Peruvian mobile telephony operator Movistar has launched its 4G LTE service in certain areas of Chiclayo and Piura, Telecompaper.com reported on July 8, 2014. The telco said that it currently has nearly 100,000 4G subscribers in Peru. Movistar confirmed it is working to provide full LTE coverage in capital city Lima and expand coverage in Arequipa, Trujillo, Chiclayo and Piura in the short term. Movistar aims to invest $400 million in the deployment of LTE technology within the next five years.
