4G LTE technology now covers nearly 75 percent of Colombia\'s population, Telecompaper.com reported on Aug 8, 2014. With mobile operators Movistar, Tigo and Claro all having launched 4G services by the end of last year. Movistar already offers 4G coverage in 74 municipalities across Colombia, while Tigo recently affirmed that its LTE network reaches 55 percent of the country\'s population. Meanwhile, Claro\'s 4G base totals 500,000 subscribers. Claro recently reported that its 4G infrastructure is present in 100 municipalities and 25 department capitals. DirecTV recently launched 4G in a limited number of cities while other telcos such as Avantel and ETB plan to launch 4G sometime this year.
