Brocade buys Vistapointe to enhance NFV portfolio

Networking virtualization and data storage company Brocade has acquired network visibility and analytics provider Vistapointe for an undisclosed amount, reported Telecompaper.com on Sept 15, 2014. According to Brocade, the software-based, carrier-grade technologies of Vistapointe are geared toward mobile operators embracing Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) architectures, allowing Brocade to extend those technologies to its service provider customers, especially global Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). Brocade added that the acquisition of Vistapointe would help it to enhance its NFV technology portfolio by giving MNOs the opportunity to better classify, visualize, manage, and secure subscriber data traffic – capabilities it says are essential for MNOs deploying 4G/LTE technology across billions of mobile devices worldwide. Vistapointe technologies also directly complement the existing Brocade MLX-based IP telemetry product, according to Brocade, which has hired Vistapointe CEO Ravi Medikonda and his development team as part of the deal.
