The government of Ecuador expects to sign 4G concessions with private mobile operators Claro and Movistar by the end of this year, Telecompaper.com reports on Oct 16, 2014. The official said that the government is still negotiating with the operators. The negotiations with Claro and Movistar had started in June. The government aims to award spectrum in the 1,900 MHz spectrum band for the provision of 4G services. State-run operator CNT already offers 4G LTE in the country. Ecuador reached a total of 5,757 4G LTE subscribers by the end of August, according to statistics from the country\'s Superintendence of Telecommunications (Supertel).
