China\'s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has decided to adjust mobile network interconnection settlement charges. This change, however, will not include the TD-SCDMA network.

Starting on January 1, 2014, calls from China Telecom or Unicom to China Mobile numbers will be lowered to 0.04 yuan ($0.07) from the current rate of 0.06 yuan per minute. However, calls from China Mobile\'s network (excluding the TD-SCDMA network) to China Telecom or China Unicom and calls between China Telecom and China Unicom will remain the same at 0.06 yuan per minute. Interconnection charges for calls to TD-SCDMA users and charges for calls from China Mobile\'s 3G network to the other two operators will remain unchanged, respectively, at 0.06 yuan per minute and 0.012 yuan per minute. The SMS interconnection fee will also be lowered from 0.03 yuan to 0.01 yuan per SMS. MMS interconnection fees have been lowered to 0.05 yuan from 0.10 yuan per MMS. The interconnection settlement policy is assessed by the MIIT every two years.
