Apple limited video capture resolution on its iPhone 5s to 1,080p, which is higher than the existing screen resolution. The new Ultrakam app for iPhone 5 and 5s allows the taking of 2K video with the existing 8MP image sensor, PC Magazine reports.

Ultrakam is capable of recording 2K video at 24 frames per second. The term 2K video can mean recording H.264 iFrame at 2,240 x 1,672 and M-JPEG at 1,936 x 1,446 for 2K film at the standard 24 frames per second. The app also supports time lapse at a maximum of 2,592 x 1,936 resolution. The iPhone 5s can also do slow-motion video at 720p and 120fps. The app comes with its own capture interface with white balance, focus, exposure, and bitrate adjustments.
