Colombia’s National Spectrum Agency (ANE) has announced plans to auction off more wireless service frequencies in 2015, with more details to be available later this year, Telegeography.com reported on April 4, citing La Republica.

The Long Term Evolution (LTE)-suitable frequencies in the 700-MHz range are expected to generate the greatest interest and the nation’s existing 4G providers have called for the frequencies to be allocated as soon as possible to improve their LTE services. But, the airwaves for sale also include 70-MHz of spectrum in the 900-MHz range, 5-MHz in 1900-MHz, and 40-MHz of 2500-MHz. ANE is also considering offering 10-MHz of 450-MHz band spectrum, 34-MHz in the 850-MHz range and 20-MHz of 900-MHz.

ANE’s director, Oscar Leon, said they are looking to make more spectrum available to providers, which will improve the range and quality of services, and pave the way for greater competition.
