Digicel BVI increases HSPA+ footprint
Digicel, in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), has expanded its “4G” –brand of HSPA+ network to Road Town and Jost Van Dyke, ahead of its planned introduction of true 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology, Telecompaper.com reported on Monday, while quoting the CEO of the Digicel BVI, Declan Cassidy, as saying, “Digicel is committed to providing effective and affordable LTE services to the people of the BVI.”
The Digicel Group has opened LTE networks in Antigua and Barbados and the Cayman Islands, so far, Cassidy noted, but is still waiting for confirmation from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission regarding the allocation of LTE-suitable spectrum in the BVI.
