In the city of Anchorage, Alaska, more than 50,000 students and teachers will have access to and increased capacity on new web-based learning tools and virtual classrooms, as well as a faster, more reliable Internet, thanks to the school district\'s technology plan to partner with Alaska Communications.

This involved signing a long-term agreement on extended relations, which calls for Alaska Communications to provide better broadband services, including faster speeds and a private wireless network at more than 100 locations to meet the district\'s growing technology and educational needs. Alaska Communications will assist it by increasing bandwidth at all schools and facilities, 95 of which will get fiber-optic cable by early 2015, as well as private network access to LTE wireless services, with a wireless affinity program for students, families and employees, bringing new learning tools to the classroom.
