Qualcomm is setting a high goal for returns from India\'s 3G and 4G services and expects LTE smartphones equipped with a mid-tier Snapdragon 400 chipset of the San Diego, California mobile chipset maker to be introduced this year in India, economictimes.indiatimes.com reports. The Snapdragon 400 has both dual and quad core offerings and is integrated with LTE for faster connectivity.

The Qualcomm India manager, Sandeep Sibal, told ET that 4G LTE networks will improve user experience and that devices supporting multiple technologies will play a major role. Sibal went on to say, "India is set to see a mobile data storm, with consumers demanding 24-7 mobile Internet, operators expanding 3G and 4G LTE networks, and OEMs focused on 3G and 4G LTE multimode smartphones.”

The company entered India in 1996 and has offices in five locations, with research facilities across a wide spectrum of wireless technologies. By 2015, it expects to see multimode LTE smartphones in volume with Qualcomm chipsets that will facilitate large scale consumer use in India.
