SK Telecom deploys base stations for tri-band LTE network
South Korea’s operator SK Telecom began setting up new base stations for 10-MHz of spectrum in the 2.1-GHz band, for LTE services in certain parts of the capital Seoul, and Gwangju and Pusan, from May 7, Telecompaper.com reported on Tuesday, citing Inside Korea.
The company plans to build a tri-band LTE-Advanced network, with a combined 40-MHz bandwidth in the 800-MHz, 1.8-GHz and 2.1-GHz bands. It said the tri-band LTE-Advanced network will allow access to LTE services at speeds of up to 300-Mbps and that handsets needed for this network will be available by the end of this year.
