Vodafone Czech Republic has begun a two-month test of its LTE network, in the 800-MHz band, on an initial seven transmitters, in Velka Bites and environs, reports Telecompaper.com, which goes on to explain that anyone with an LTE SIM card and a device supporting LTE 800-MHz can try the service. The theoretical speed is as high as 75 Mbps and average speed, 20–30 Mbps.

Vodafone already opened LTE on the 1,800- and 900-MHz bands in 2013. It provides LTE under the Turbo Internet brand, which now covers 82 percent of the population and 56 percent of the territory. As of the end of May, Vodafone covered additional locations in the Karlovy Vary, Liberec, Usti nad Labem, Pilsen, Pardubice, Central Bohemia, Southern Bohemia, Vysocina and Southern Moravia areas.

By the end of this year, Turbo Internet is expected to cover 93 percent of the population. As is the case with 1,800-MHz and 900-MHz frequencies, LTE in the 800-MHz band supports voice calls, as well as data, using the CS Fall Back function. The radio network technology supplier is Huawei.
