Russian mobile operator MTS announced that it has expanded the coverage of its LTE and 3G networks in the Moscow region, Telecompaper.com reported on July 9, 2014. Around 1,500 new LTE and 3G base stations were built in the first half of this year. The locations of around 10 percent of the new base stations were chosen based on applications from subscribers. Customers of the operator were able to submit applications on the website of the operator, over the call centre or using the mapping application from Russian Internet search engine Yandex. Around 1,000 agglomerations, including villages, are covered by the 3G and LTE networks of the operator in the region.
