Ooredoo Maldives has launched a 4G LTE network in Maafushi Island. Ooredoo initially launched its 4G network in the Maldives in April 2013, Telecompaper.com reported on Aug 7, 2014. Following a trial period in the Male area, Ooredoo has begun rolling out its 4G network to the rest of the Maldives. Maafushi is the first island with 4G coverage in this phase of the network expansion, and throughout the year, the operator will continue to expand 4G coverage across the Maldives.

With 4G LTE, Ooredoo customers in Maafushi can now access speeds of up to 100 Mbps. 4G LTE services can be accessed on smartphones and through routers available from Ooredoo. Customers can subscribe to the 4G Postpaid Platinum with unlimited calls and SMS, 6GB for mobile data traffic, and IDD and roaming discounts.
