Aquafon launches LTE services
Abkhasian mobile operator Aquafon, a subsidsiary of Russian mobile operator Megafon, has launched its LTE network in major cities and towns across the republic, Telecompaper.com reported on Aug 7, 2014. The operator deployed its own fiber-backbone network and plans to launch LTE services in all agglomerations across the country by the end of the year. Up to 70 Mbps is accessible under the coverage of the network, and sales of LTE modems have started in all of the operator’s retail outlets.
