Russian mobile operator Megafon has signed a cooperation agreement with Ericsson, valid for seven years, Telecompaper.com reported on Aug 7, 2014. Ericsson will supply equipment and software for the operator’s GSM, 3G and LTE networks as well as for its backbone network. The agreement allows for the eventual replacement of equipment from other producers. Equipment upgrades are planned for Northwestern Russia in the first stage. Ericsson will provide its full line of equipment and solutions to the operator, enabling Megafon to introduce new products and to improve service quality in the near future.
