Brazil\'s Communications Ministry approved four investment projects presented by Oi for use of the 450 MHz band under the Special Taxation Regime for Broadband (REPNBL), reported Telecompaper.com on Aug 13, 2014. The 450 MHz band will be used by the operator to carry telephony and internet to rural areas of Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul, Goias, Brasilia, Distrito Federal and Mato Grosso do Sul, according to decrees published in the Official Gazette. Oi\'s investment in these networks totals BRL 227.4 million ($99.68). Additionally, Oi is the first Brazilian operator to make public (albeit through the publication of project approval) a commercial LTE network on the 450 MHz band, only the second one in the world.
