Altel launches LTE services in 6 new cities

Kazakhstan operator Altel, a subsidiary of the national operator Kazakhtelecom, has launched commercial LTE services in six new cities – Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk, Kostanay, Uralsk, Taldykorgan and Kokshetau – with up to 100 Mbps broadband accessible, Telecompaper.com reported on Aug 13, 2014. Current subscribers can replace their end-user devices under promotional conditions, and new customers are being offered a package containing a USB modem and 99 GB internet traffic for KZT 4,900 ($26.92).

The LTE network was launched using the 1,800 MHz band in Astana and Almaty in December 2012, and the services were launched in another 11 cities in December 2013. By the end of this year, Altel plans to cover all cities and towns in the country with over 50,000 residents.
