LTE and Wimax technology accounted for only 1.3 percent of mobile communications subscribers in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the end of 2013, Telecompaper.com reported on Aug 14, 2014. 2G technology accounted for 70.5 percent of mobile subscribers in the ASEAN while 3G represented 28.2 percent of total subscribers. Fifteen mobile telecom carriers in seven ASEAN countries had launched LTE commercial operations as of the end of the second quarter of 2014.
