KPN launches LTE Advanced in The Hague
KPN has launched LTE Advanced in parts of The Hague, Telecompaper.com reported on Sept 18, 2014. The Dutch operator said the launch comes in preparation of the availability of new smartphones that support the faster LTE standard, such as the iPhone 6. The operator is using carrier aggregation to boost the 4G speed. This follows the introduction of 1,800 MHz band frequencies in June on the LTE network. A pilot this summer reached speeds over 200 Mbps with the new technology.
LTE Advanced will be rolled out first in the Randstad (Amsterdam, Schiphol, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht) and Eindhoven. Access to the faster speeds will be included automatically in KPN plans, and the operator no longer imposes any speed limits on its 4G subscriptions.
