Lithuanian mobile operator Omnitel has extended its LTE network to the cities of Elektrenai Kaisiadorys, Silale, Kryzioku, Balsiu, and Pavilnio, reports TeleGeography on Friday.

Back in October, the TeliaSonera-owned company stated that it was prepared to widen its 4G coverage to around 50 percent of the population in 2014, using the 800 MHz spectrum acquired at auction earlier that month. Omnitel started commercial LTE mobile broadband services in the 1800 MHz band in the downtown areas of Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Siauliai and Panevezys, in April 2011, with the network expanded to the coastal resort towns of Palanga and Nida, in July 2012.
