According to a Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) plan, Pakistan\'s first 3G and 4G licenses will be going on sale in March 2014, Telegeography.com reported, with the government expecting to make between $1.2 billion and $2 billion from the sale.

The PTA will work with Value Partners Management Consulting on the auction. The PTA chairman, Syed Ismail Shah, has promised that the concessions will be technology neutral and available to both existing and new operators, with the 30 MHz spectrum up for sale, and no decision yet on how to split up the spectrum. Ismail shah also stated that they don\'t want a price war because it would compromise service quality and profitability of the companies, and the PTA has not decided to what extent it will regulate the authorization price.
