Vodafone’s Dutch mobile business is set to start evolved Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) services in the Netherlands, later this year, under the name 4G+, Telecompaper.com writes, adding that it demonstrated LTE-A at its headquarter in Amsterdam.

Vodafone NL plans to start the faster service – with theoretical speeds hitting a peak of 225Mbps – in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, the Hague, Utrecht, Leiden, Eindhoven, Den Bosch, Schiphol, and two other cities, before expanding it to 50 more smaller cities by year’s end.

Vodafone’s evolved 4G service use carrier aggregation (CA), combining 10-MHz of bandwidth in the 800-MHz band for up to 75-Mbps, with 20-MHz of 1,800-MHz spectrum, for a further 150-Mbps. In addition, the operator says that, from the second half of the year, it will begin tests of Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) ahead of an expected commercial launch in mid-2015.
