Swisscom has announced that 94 percent of Switzerland\'s population can use its 4G/LTE network, Lteworld.org reported on Aug 25. For 2G or 3G technology, the figure is over 99 percent. Swisscom is also trying to improve the quality of indoor reception. Coverage inside buildings will be improved in the coming weeks as new mobile frequencies are rolled out and LTE is expanded. From the second half of 2015, Swisscom customers will also be able to make calls on their mobile phone via their home WLAN network with WLAN interworking technology.

The operator\'s network will be expanded to include the newly available UMTS and LTE frequencies in the next few weeks. In addition, Swisscom is introducing WLAN interworking, allowing customers to make/receive calls on their normal mobile phone number without the need to open a separate app. The new technology will be expanded by Swisscom over the coming months and is due to go live in the second half of 2015.
