Orange Spain has launched 4G services in the Galician city of Pontevedra, Telecompaper.com reported on Aug 25. The deployment has seen the operator invest around EUR 4 million in modernizing its access and transmission network to carry mobile data at 4G speeds throughout the historic center of Pontevedra, including the areas surrounding Plaza de la Herreria, Santa Maria and La Peregrin, as well as the main shopping areas, business districts and convention centers. Orange expects to launch 4G services in the nearby towns of O\'Porrino and Mos by the end of 2014 and is on course to reach its target of two-thirds of the Spanish population covered by the end of the year.
