RJIL inks tower deal with BSNL
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), an Indian state-owned telecommunications company, has signed a deal to lease 4,000 mobile towers to newcomer Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL), Telegeography.com reported on Aug 27.
BSNL will offer a base rate of INR38, 000($629) per month for ground-based towers and INR24, 900 per month for rooftop-based towers. The cellco has provided a 15 percent discount if RJIL commits to renting 1,500 towers in the first year.
RJIL also signed infrastructure contracts with other operators to speed-up its launch and to-date has inked agreements with Reliance Communications (RCOM), Viom Networks, American Tower Corporation (ATC), Tower Vision, Ascend Telecom and Bharti Infratel.
