E-Plus moves to second in mobile data network ranking
E-Plus has moved up to second place in German magazine Computer Bild\'s rankings of mobile data providers. Deutsche Telekom remained in first place with a “good” rating followed by E-Plus, Vodafone and O2, all with “satisfactory” marks, Telecompaper.com reported on Sept 22, 2014. E-Plus came first in UMTS connections and was second overall due to its limited LTE coverage. O2 was last due to its poor coverage outside cities. Telekom achieved the highest average data speeds in almost all locations tested, with particularly high availability for its LTE network.
For simple voice over the GSM network, Vodafone scored best, with Telekom and O2 a small distance behind and E-Plus lagging. The test saw over 61,000 consumers use a special app to measure network performance in more than 100 cities. This included around 18.5 million data sessions and 16 million voice minutes.
