O2 Czech Republic brings LTE to Ostrava
O2 Czech Republic launched its LTE network at the Leos Janacek Airport in Ostrava on the occasion of the NATO Days, Telecompaper.com reported on Sept 22, 2014. The second location in Ostrava where O2 deploys LTE is the World of Technology complex. Here LTE will be deployed permanently. The opening ceremony of the World of Technology is planned on September 26. O2 Czech Republic covers Prague, Brno and Ostrava with LTE as the first operator, and it continues its gradual expansion of coverage to the whole country. By the end of the year, the operator plans to cover 90 percent of the population with broadband Internet, said Jindrich Fremuth, director of the consumer division. In selected locations, LTE from O2 offers speeds up to 185 Mbps. Based on speed measurements by the server DSL.cz, the LTE network of O2 Czech Republic is the fastest in the country.
