Lebanon operator Alfa said it enhanced its network at the BDL Beirut Marathon, in anticipation of increased traffic due to the participation of more than 40,000 runners in the marathon, reports Telecompaper.com on Nov 18, 2014. Alfa put in place a five-carrier 3G site, which increased the network capacity by 65 percent in comparison to the normal network capacity. The equipment used was manufactured by Ericsson. Alfa also placed in the race two CoWs to help offset the forecast pressure on the network and secured LTE coverage along the Marathon route.
