MTN Uganda looking at UGX 238 bln spending the coming year

MTN Uganda has announced plans to put UGX 238 billion ($90.49 million) into its technology, in 2015, to improve services in the country, Telecompaper.com reported on Sept 24, and citing its CEO, Brian Gouldie, as saying that the planned investment is subject to board approval. This year, the mobile operator spent UGX 157 billion, and last year, UGX 138 billion, for a 47-percent year-on-year growth, The Observer has said. Gouldie announced that is the funds will be going for key technology, particularly 3G and LTE, as well as IT infrastructure and VAS, particularly for applications and self-service. In a service quality report in July, the industry regulator Uganda Communications Commission said MTN had fewer dropped calls.
